Information on Verde Energy - PUCO settlement.

Recently, Verde settled a case before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio. In that case, Commission Staff alleged that some customers may have been misled by the marketing of Verde’s electric and natural gas services in Ohio. Though Verde disagreed with these allegations, we settled the case in order to continue focusing on delivering excellent service to our customers. Verde has since mailed out letters to Ohio customers making them aware of the settlement as well as options available concerning their existing account. Below are some FAQs to assist with inquiries you may have.

Verde is working with PUCO Staff on a comprehensive compliance plan as part of restarting Verde’s marketing of our services in Ohio. As part of that plan, we will have numerous checks in place to protect consumers. For example, Verde Energy will use third party verifiers to confirm the terms and conditions of each new enrollment. In addition, welcome calls will be made to every enrollment as an additional quality check. Further, customers can always contact Customer Care to talk to a representative about our services or to cancel their service.

The settlement requires that Verde send refunds to a certain subset of current/former customers based on their Verde rates vs. a comparison rate as defined in the settlement with PUCO. Customers due a refund will be notified of their eligibility and the amount of their refund by a written notice delivered to the customer’s account address via USPS mail.

Customers eligible for a refund will be notified via USPS mail (see above).
